WSC101 Hocus Pocus

I love playing along in Beate's weekend sketch challenges - they are a great way to get me experimenting with layouts, since I normally keep mine pretty clean and simple! You can see the original sketch HERE. I need to get my Halloween cards finished so I used this sketch on another one. I've been using this darling Karen Lockhart image and some fun designer paper from Pinecone Press on my Halloween cards this year. I also found this awesome glittery spider brad at my LSS that I thought would be a great addition. You'll probably see a few more cards using this combination of paper and stamps in the next few days!

Res-Q Heatlh Fair: Vaccination

The crew members over at the the Res-Q Challenge are having a Mojo Health Fair today in honor of World Cardmaking Day! There are four challenges today - you can find them all HERE - and we'll be giving away some goodies to people who play along or comment!
I'm hosting the final challenge of the day and it's getting underway right now! The last stop at the health fair is the "vaccination station." You won't have to get a shot, but we do ask that you pull out your needle for some paper-piercing! For my sample card, I did some piercing in each corner of the card to add a little interest. You don't need any special supplies - you can use a thumb tack, push pin or sewing needle and an old mouse pad to do your piercing. The layout of this card was loosely inspired by Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #100. Hope you'll join us for some health fair fun!

WSC98 and Lily

I got an adorable card in the mail this week from my stamping buddy Jacqueline. Inside she'd tucked some stamped images including this one from Pink Cat Studios' Lily at the beach line. Isn't Lily adorable? I had to put her right to use on a card, so I used Beate's weekend sketch for this card. Lily was colored with Copics and I added some clear Spica glitter to her flower and polka dots. I have a few more Lily images, and I can't wait to play with them! Thanks Jacqueline!

Hocus Pocus WSC95

I had a rare Friday off work (and boy did I need it!) so I took a little time to play today! I haven't had a chance to try any of Beate's weekend sketches for awhile, so I used this week's as my inspiration today. My local stamp store was having a sale the other day on Halloween stamps - half off! - so I picked up this Karen Lockhart image and a Rosie's Roadshow sentiment to go with it. It's fun to play with some new stuff, and it never hurts to get started on those holiday cards early!

Weekend sketch and bunnies!

Mary Jo Albright is hosting the Weekend Sketch Challenge this week, and she posted a long, narrow sketch. I love making cards to fit business envelopes (about 6.25 by 3.5 inches) so I had to give this sketch a try. I also had another of these cute Magenta bunny images all colored and ready to go, and it was perfect for the sketch. I didn't use the bottom circle, replacing it with the ribbon instead.I also used my new EK Success border punch. I just love this punch - it is so delicate and makes such a neat border. I added some glitz using my Spica clear glitter pen but it it almost impossible to see in the picture.
