CHA Super Show and Cricut Cake!

Finally I've got some things to share with you! I've been in a crafty stupor the last couple of days while attending the Craft and Hobby Association Craft Super Show in Anaheim and it was a blast! I'll be sharing some thoughts, photos, freebies and make-n-takes with you over the next several days, I hope you don't mind! The Super Show is the open-to-the-public precursor to the twice-annual CHA trade show where buyers go to learn about and order the latest and greatest in all things crafty! This is only the second time the CHA has held a Super Show and the first time the event has been held in Anaheim. I found it to be a totally fabulous experience well worth the $15, two-day admission. There was a really good mix of fun (free) workshops and classes, fantastic samples and freebies, cool (free!) make-n-takes and a good selection of products to buy!
There was no question that the most popular booth at the show was the Provocraft booth. This was the booth first thing Saturday morning BEFORE it got busy! They had a small stage for workshops, two make-n-take stations and two stations where you could learn about the most popular Cricut products, the Cricut, Cricut Cake, the Cuttlebug and the Yudu.
The Provocraft folks are introducing a new Cricut for cake decorating this week, so the whole booth was themed around it. The Cake machine is made for cake decorating - it will cut through gum paste to make easy to use cake decorations. They were giving away chef's hats with the Cake logo, and if you wore one around the show floor and were spotted, you would be entered into a drawing to win one. So I wore my hat around all day today! I didn't win, but it was fun anyway!
This was the cute make-n-take the Provocraft folks were offering to promote the Cricut Cake. Or at least, it was cute when I made it at 10 a.m. By the time I got home about 7 p.m., after it had been carried around in my tote bag all day, it didn't look nearly as good! We made and decorated little boxes, then decorated cupcakes with gum paste flowers cut out with the Cricut. They were really quite cute!
In the next post, I'll share some of the cool new Cuttlebug stuff I found in their booth!

For the entire story on using your cricut to cut gumpaste for cakes. I've done it since 2008

You've done such a great job on reporting about CHA. Geez, I wonder where you get this talent for writing!?! I am really learning more about how fun you are, wearing your chef hat, etc. I'm so glad you had a good time!
